Online Creative Workshop

A one hour online creative writing and doodling workshop, suitable for beginners and anyone wanting a relaxed, no-pressure space to be creative.

I won’t be teaching anything, just sharing some prompts that we then use to write and doodle our own creations.

Does this sound like you?

  • Maybe you enjoy writing creatively but don’t always make time for it? Or you prefer writing in the company of others?
  • Perhaps you spend time writing for your work, but you’d like time to explore some ideas of your own just for fun?

Who is this workshop for?

  • It’s for anyone who’d like a little bit of creativity in their working day, in the company of some nice friendly people
  • The attendees are usually freelancers and self-employed people, but if you’re employed and fancy joining us in your break, you’re very welcome to!
  • You don’t need to be an expert creative writer or doodler – just with a sense of humour and willing to have a go. (Below is an example of my doodling to reassure you it doesn’t need to be a work of art!)

What happens at a workshop?

  • We start with a couple of warm-up exercises to get your brain into the right mood
  • Followed by as many prompts as we can fit into the time
    • Some will be for writing and some for drawing doodles!
  • After each exercise or prompt we’ll discuss it briefly
  • If you want to read out or show the group your creations you can – but there is no pressure to do so.

What do you need to bring?

  • Bring something to write with – pen/pencil, paper, digital – and some coloured pens!

If you can’t make this date, but would like to attend a workshop, just contact me and I can let you know when I’ve got another date planned. (And if you’d like to get a group together of 5+ people, then we can choose a date between us.)

Booking notes, terms and conditions

Joining details will be sent manually by me to the email address used to make your payment – so they won’t appear immediately after booking.

Cancellations are permitted, but please give 48 hours notice – this is because I need to ensure that there are enough participants for an enjoyable workshop.

Who am I to run a creative workshop?

I’m Nina Lenton, and I believe that we’re all creative – it just shows up in different ways for different people. I think that you can enjoy a bit of creativity in just 5 or 10 minutes – it doesn’t take much to fit in something small, but it can really brighten up your day.

I first started running online creative writing workshops a few years ago, and I’m currently trying out a variation of these workshops by adding in some doodling!

I have also run a couple of short (4-6 week) online and audio courses, I led regular creative coworking sessions for the Doing It For The Kids members for a year or so, and recently co-hosted an in-person creative photo session in Maidenhead. I hope to do more of all of those types of things in the coming months.

And I’m the author of 3 short books about creativity and freelancing, which are illustrated with my hand-drawn, quirky doodles. I have recently published a colouring book for freelancers which includes some of the characters from those books. You can read about all of those here.
