Weird Penguin’s Thoughts on Freelance Life
“Let the Penguin be your guide”
In the long and chequered history of freelancing, no-one has ever considered the importance or relevance of penguins in how a freelancer makes most sense of this way of life/working, and is able to best navigate it. Until now.
As a freelancer of over 20 years, this is the book I wish I’d had with me from day 1 to better celebrate the highs (and endure the lows) of ‘doing it’ – and to know what might be lurking around the next corner that no-one usually talks about…

Weird Penguin’s Thoughts on Freelance Life
A funny, lighthearted but surprisingly reflective take on freelance life. Nina’s doodles take very relatable moments, such as embracing creative weirdness to the dreaded ghosting over invoices, and brings them to life with these simple, whimsical penguin doodles.
The charm is in the simplicity of the drawings paired with witty observational humour that never tries too hard. It’s the kind of book you can dip into with a coffee for a quick pick-me-up and immediately recognise parts of your own freelance life.
A great little gift for any freelancer or small business owner who enjoys witty, observational humour about the realities of freelance life.

Weird Penguin’s Thoughts on Freelance Life
I saw a post by Nina where she talked about her book, Weird Penguin’s Thoughts On Freelance Life. I love penguins and I’m a freelancer, so I ordered a copy immediately.
And I’m so glad I did. It isn’t JUST a book full of cute little penguin doodles (although there are plenty of cute little penguin doodles) – it’s also a book that shows freelancers they’re not alone. I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, because it’s money well spent if you’re interested, but biscuits, side projects and ghosting are among some of the penguin doodles you’ll find inside.
It is truly a gorgeous little treat for any freelancer. You aren’t alone. There are other freelancers out there who genuinely get it. And Weird Penguin will be right there beside you for a smattering of wholesome joy whenever you need it.

Reviews of “A Guide to Ideas”
A Guide to Ideas
I really enjoyed Nina’s doodle book. You can pick up when you feel stuck with ideas – either a head full of them or finding it hard to think of one – and can flick through for a quick bit of creative inspiration. Nina’s hand-drawn doodles are super cute and full of character. It’s a lovely reminder that creativity doesn’t have to be over-complicated!

A Guide to Ideas
A Guide to Ideas in 22 Doodles: I found this booklet charming, engaging and thought-provoking. It’s something you flick through on the first reading, but get more out of each time you dip into the pages. I like the suggestion that ideas are beings with their own energy, and that they will come to us if we just create space. It’s then up to us to get curious and explore further any possibilities that arise. Thank you for including the doodles reminding us that it’s ok to drop ideas too, or to store them away for another day! I can imagine many different audiences appreciating this book, from young people starting out in the world to mid-lifers seeking a new path and retirees still having much to contribute to society.

A Guide to Ideas
I really enjoyed reading Nina’s ‘A Guide to Ideas in 22 Doodles’. It reminded me of working with Nina. It was clear to follow, made me smile and reminded me of some important things to remember when looking for and working with ideas. A great place to return to for anyone feeling stuck or looking for inspiration.
