How to plan your workshop content

There are a few topics that keep coming up in conversations with your clients. So you’ve decided that you’re going to organise a few short workshops to tackle those topics.

✅ You mapped some initial thoughts out and you’re excited about this
💡But then your brain kept having more ideas, so you wrote all of those down too
😩 Now you’re completely overwhelmed, you have no idea how to get started, and it’s no longer fun to think about
😢 And actually, maybe it’s a silly idea?
❌ So you abandon the whole thing.

How could you approach this so you don’t reach overwhelm?

First, put that piece of paper with all the ideas on to one side!

Then, get a new piece of paper and write in the middle one simple goal. “Create and deliver one workshop on [topic name]”.

Around it, write the following prompts:

  • How long?
  • Virtual or in person?
  • Who is it for? Are you already marketing to them?
  • How much will it cost you to run? (time/expenses)
  • 3 key points you need to cover about the topic
  • Will you need worksheets?
  • Any other thoughts about this one workshop

Then answer all the questions.

💡 If you have any other ideas while you’re doing this, start a new piece of paper called “Other ideas” and write them there.

And now you have the scope of your first workshop. 🙂 This article here might help you with the planning.
