I ask my guests “what does the word creativity mean to you?”
We talk about creative expression and creative thinking, and how those show up in business.
In this episode I talk to Jon Richards, who is a graphic designer for food and drink brands.
He explains how he ended up focusing on food and drink brands and where he gets his inspiration from. He shares his observations on how creativity shows up in people’s lives. And we talk about pizza toppings, cuddly penguins, music and sketching.

Further thoughts and reflections on this episode
I wanted to find out what my podcast guests learned from our conversations – so I asked them. Below are Jon’s thoughts.
What did you learn by appearing on the Creative Conversations podcast?
It reminded me how important it is to practise creative skills I’d let slip. Not just for work, but as an act of mindfulness too. Since the podcast, I’ve started sketching again, carrying a small notebook with me to capture things when I’m out. It’s become a really positive way to reconnect with creativity and switch off from everything else for a bit.
Do you have any wisdom or thoughts you’d like to add to the topics we discussed in our conversation?
I really liked our discussion about how someone’s home can reveal a lot about their personality. It’s such a personal space, you share it with guests, but it mostly exists for your own enjoyment. I love the idea that a glimpse into someone’s home can feel like a window into who they really are.
My reflections
I enjoyed the variety of topics we discussed in this episode, and how it evolved into a conversation about people’s space being a form of creative expression – as well as the fact that the pizza discussion made me feel hungry! I also love the fact that since having this conversation with me, Jon has started sketching again – and he shared a sketch on social media with an explanation of how it came about.
What do you think?
Did you have any insights into your own creativity while listening to this? Jon and I would love to hear what you learned and whether it’s inspired you to do anything yourself. You can contact me here to let me know.
