Creative Conversations – Abi Moore – series 2 episode 9

I ask my guests “what does the word creativity mean to you?”

We talk about creative expression and creative thinking, and how those show up in business.

In this episode I talk to Abi Moore, who is a brand photographer and visibility expert.

She tells me about where she gets her inspiration from, how she prepares for client shoots, and the challenges that her clients have with self-promotion. We also discuss the role of ADHD in creativity, and the way she captures and manages her ideas.

You can find this episode on Substack, Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Further thoughts and reflections on this episode

I wanted to find out what my podcast guests learned from our conversations – so I asked them. Below are Abi’s thoughts.

What did you learn by appearing on the Creative Conversations podcast?

Until preparing for our conversation, I hadn’t thought much about creativity and it occurred to me that I see it as quite a separate entity, that I’m not fully in control of. I think that sounds a little unhinged, but I have a very active brain and ideas do just seem to ping at me!

It also made me realise I’m not spending enough time pursuing creativity for joy (rather than work), and I’m pleased to say that has changed since the podcast.

Do you have any wisdom or thoughts you’d like to add to the topics we discussed in our conversation?

I hear from a lot of people that they find coming up with ideas for marketing content difficult. I touched on this in our discussion, but inspiration is all around you. Have one place where you capture ideas as they come so you can refer back to them later. Also think about the little stories in your life and what your audience finds helpful – the ideas are there if you look for them!

My reflections

It was really nice to chat to Abi about ideas and understand how she manages hers, as she has been working for herself for much longer than I have. I found it particularly interesting when she talked about finding room for her own creativity in the business alongside the creativity she has to bring for client projects.

I love the fact that she did pick up a sketchbook after our conversation, and shared a lovely drawing of a sunflower on social media, it’s so nice to see!

What do you think?

Did you have any insights into your own creativity while listening to this? Abi and I would love to hear what you learned and whether it’s inspired you to do anything yourself. You can contact me here to let me know.
